Taking breaks. Is it worth it? Is it necessary?
Hi loves! Been a hot minute right? Sorry I kept ya’ll waiting, but I’m back and better ( I hope). lol….
I took a break from blogging for a while due to school work and exams and honestly, procrastination.
Yeah, I got lazy and I kept procrastinating. Granted, I had some school work and a few other things on my plate but those things didn’t necessarily have to hinder me from posting on my blog.
I guess I just made a huge deal out of it.
Which pretty much brings me into the topic for today, TAKING BREAKS.
Is it always necessary?
Now, I do know that a lot of you work so hard, day and night, and literally have no time for yourself. And you definitely need to take a break, to re-energize yourself and not to get burnt out.
But let’s face it, there are times when some of us take unwarranted breaks after working for a few weeks to some months.
Here’s why I’m bringing this up;
From my personal experience and from the experiences of a few others I’ve encountered, people who take unwarranted breaks, especially breaks that last for more than 2 weeks tend to find it hard to get back into their work, most especially things such as blogging and/or vlogging cause these are things that need a lot of motivation for you to keep going.
Take myself for example, like I explained earlier. I took a break which wasn’t absolutely needed and getting back to blogging was quite difficult, I kept pushing back my return saying “oh well, if I push it back one more week, no one will notice”, “I deserve a break don’t I? I’ll take one more week off”
And on and on, I kept giving different excuses.
Of course, you may not have handled it the way I did but nonetheless, I’m sharing my experience with you, in hopes that, next time you wanna take a break;
- Make sure you absolutely need it.
- Don’t take a long break cause you might get too comfortable where you are.
So, before you decide to take a break (especially if it’s gonna be a long one) ask yourself if it’s really worth it.
Have you had such an experience before? Do share with us on how you handled it and got back on your feet.
