A friend of mine asked me a question some months back and I quote, “Sommy, when are you going to write a post about me?”
Of course I laughed it off. It was a joke and he wasn’t serious about it anyway.
Now, fast forward to about 6 months later, trying to come up with a post and I remembered that conversation.
I said to myself “Well maybe you should write something about him”.
To keep his identity private, I’ll be referring to him as Labi in this article.
Labi is a great example of A MAN. He is a 27-year-old guy with a heart of gold.
Don’t worry, his heart of gold is not the main focus for today.
I’m writing a post about him today based on his sexuality.
*drum roll please*
Labi is still a virgin.
Did I mention that he is 27-year-old? And he’s a male?
Now before you jump the gun, I’m not saying that only virgins are real men.
Here’s what I’m driving at…
As a 27-year-old, you know he has definitely been tempted more times than he can count, but he made the decision not to give up at sacred part of himself up to just anyone.
He has friends that are promiscuous (yes, offence intended)
But, Labi has stayed true to his decision all these years.
Here’s why I really decided to write about labi,
As I wrote in my first post, guys have been made to believe having sex/being promiscuous is the only way to be accepted as men.
Ladies on the other hand, think that it’s normal for guys to be promiscuous and have sex every other day.
Labi isn’t the only guy I know who has stayed true to himself and not letting the world influence him into doing what he knows isn’t right. I’m not in anyway criticizing guys who are not virgins or those who are sexually active, NO. All I want is to encourage young lads – even the not so young ones – that it’s okay to hold off sex till you’re sure you really want to go down that road. It doesn’t make you less of a man.
Guys, don’t be pressured by societal standards. It’s okay if you don’t have sex till you’re married or at least till you find someone truly worth it. Stay true to yourself and you’ll be glad you did. You might not know this, but there are other people abstaining as well – you are not alone – that’s why I urge every guy reading this and is on the celibacy journey to drop a comment (anything at all that’ll encourage other men to leave their truth and not succumb to societal pressures). Thank you.
Ladies can also definitely learn from this article.
To everyone that knows me, you have to be careful of what you tell me cause you might just be my next article. I Love You Labi 😀
As always, do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
